The Columbus Crew SC is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference.
The club began to play in 1996 as one of the ten charter clubs of the league. The Crew is owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures, which purchased the club in 2013. The team's head coach is Gregg Berhalter, who has coached the Crew since 2014.
The Crew plays its home games at MAPFRE Stadium, the first soccer-specific stadium built in the United States. The stadium is located on the site of the former Ohio Stadium, which was demolished in order to make way for MAPFRE Stadium.
